Maximising Your eBucks Rewards: A Monthly Checklist
Updated for the 2026–2026 FNB eBucks year — rules effective from July 1, 2026, with further changes from November 2026
Looking to get the most out of your eBucks rewards with FNB? Here's a simple, step-by-step guide to ensure you're maximising your benefits each month (credit to Dylan Govender, updated by southafricafacts.co.za).
⚠️ Important changes for 2026–2026: FNB has significantly revised the eBucks programme. Shoprite and Checkers are no longer partners (replaced by Pick n Pay from April 2026), iStore was removed as a partner from July 2026, and several point values have been reduced. Read through the updated checklist carefully before planning your strategy.

When Do You Get Your eBucks?
From October 2026, eBucks are allocated on the 15th of every month — a fixed "eBucks PayDay". This replaced the old variable window of the 10th–13th. FNB often releases special travel deals and partner discounts around this date, so it's worth checking the app on the 15th.
1. Track Your Rewards
Make it a habit to check your rewards every month. Navigate to the Track my rewards tab on the FNB app: FNB app → eBucks → Earn → Track my rewards.
Note: This now earns you 250 points (reduced from 1,000 points in previous years).
2. Set Up Smart Budget Categories
Ensure you have at least 3 Smart budget categories set up and view your Smart budget each month via: FNB app → Nav-igate life → Nav>>Money → Smart budget.
This earns 500 points. You can earn an extra 500 points by engaging with My Net Worth or checking your Credit Status.
3. Maintain a Healthy Credit Score
Keep a close eye on your credit score and view your Smart budget every month. Depending on your credit status, you can earn:
- Light green status: 500 points
- Dark green status: 1,000 points
4. Maximise Child Accounts or Savings
Link your child to your Family Profile and earn 500 points with an active FNBy transactional account, or earn 1,000 points by growing their FNBy savings account:
- Premier: R200
- Private Clients: R300
- Private Wealth: R400
5. Make a Minimum Monthly Deposit or 10 Debit Transactions
Make a minimum monthly deposit or perform at least 10 debit transactions per month:
- Premier: R19,500 deposit or 10 transactions → 2,000 points
- Private Clients: R32,500 deposit or 10 transactions → 2,500 points
- Private Wealth: R60,000 deposit or 10 transactions → 3,000 points
- RMB Private Banking: R32,500 deposit or 10 transactions → 3,000 points
Accepted debit transactions include ATM cash withdrawals, cardless cash withdrawals, debit card purchases, eWallet and Money Transfers, and others.
Note for Premier clients: The 500-point reward for completing 6 digital wallet/app transactions has been removed from July 2026.
6. Use FNB Pay Bills
Every month, use FNB Pay Bills on the FNB App to pay at least two bills — including utilities, DSTV, and insurance — to earn up to 1,000 points. Bills between R250 and R500 earn up to 500 points; higher bills earn more.
7. Real-Time Payments (PayShap / Instant Pay)
Making real-time payments (also known as Instant Pay or PayShap) earns a minimum of 1,000 points.
8. Virtual Card Spend
Use your FNB Virtual Card for the majority of your online and in-store purchases.
Updated rules from July 2026: Virtual card point values have been halved.
- 80% of qualifying online spend via virtual card: 1,000 points (was 2,000)
- 80% of qualifying in-store spend via virtual card: 500 points (was 1,000)
You can use Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, or Scan to Pay in the FNB app to qualify.
9. Multi-Product Purchases (New from July 2026)
Buy 3 or more different product types (electricity, lotto, airtime/bundles, gaming, vouchers) totalling at least R300 in a month to earn 500 points. This is a new, easy way to pick up extra points.
10. Insurance Points (Updated)
Holding a qualifying FNB Life Customised, Funeral, or Estate Protector cover can now earn you up to 3,500 points per month — increased from 2,500. Domestic flight discounts are now capped at 20% unless you hold FNB's comprehensive vehicle insurance product.
Level Thresholds (Updated for 2026–2026)
FNB has lowered the points needed to reach higher levels, partially offsetting the point reductions above:
- Level 2 and Level 4 thresholds reduced by 500 points
- Level 5 threshold reduced by 1,000 points
Use the eBucks calculator to see exactly where you stand and where you can close the gap.
Where to Spend Your eBucks (Key Partner Changes)
| Partner | Status |
|---|---|
| Pick n Pay | ✅ Main grocery partner (replaced Checkers/Shoprite April 2026) |
| Engen | ✅ Up to R8/litre back in eBucks |
| Clicks | ✅ Active partner |
| Takealot / MrD | ✅ Active partners |
| iStore | ❌ Removed as earn/spend partner from July 2026 |
| Shoprite / Checkers | ❌ No longer partners from March 2026 |
Tips for Reaching Level 5
- Use the calculator on the eBucks website to identify gaps in your points tally
- Check Track My Rewards every month — even for the reduced 250 points, it keeps you aware of your progress
- Automate your virtual card for recurring expenses like fuel, subscriptions, and groceries
- Pay bills through the app rather than EFT where possible
- Consider FNB insurance products — insurance points have been boosted and can make a meaningful difference
- FNB Connect customers can earn up to 15% back in eBucks on prepaid bundles and SIM plan purchases
Remember, your strategy should be adapted to fit your specific account type and needs. Happy maximising your eBucks!
